Why Australian Campers Love Nap and Sun Essentials

There’s something about camping in Australia that never gets old.

A weekend away at the beach, a few nights under the stars, a road trip with the family or waking up somewhere completely surrounded by nature, camping gives us a chance to slow down and enjoy the outdoors.

But if you’ve ever packed the car for an Australian camping trip, you’ll know there’s one small problem:

How does so much stuff fit in the car?

Between the tent, chairs, esky, food, clothes, kids’ gear, camping equipment and everything else you somehow decide you “need”, space becomes precious very quickly.

That’s where we think simple, practical products make a big difference.

At Nap and Sun, we create lightweight, practical and eco-conscious essentials designed for Australian outdoor life from recycled quick-dry beach towels to picnic blankets made from recycled plastic bottles.

And they’re made to come along for the adventure.

Made for the Australian outdoors

Australia is a pretty special place to camp.

You can spend one weekend camping beside the ocean at K’gari (Fraser Island), exploring the Sunshine Coast around Noosa, or relaxing on the Gold Coast. Another trip might take you to Jervis Bay, the Blue Mountains, Wilsons Promontory or along the Great Ocean Road.

And then there are the bigger adventures: Margaret River and Esperance in Western Australia, the beaches of Tasmania, the Flinders Ranges in South Australia or Kakadu in the Northern Territory.

Different landscapes, different weather and very different camping experiences but one thing stays the same:

You want your camping gear to be practical.

So, why take a Nap and Sun towel camping?

1. They don't take up half the car

Camping already requires a surprising amount of gear.

Our towels are lightweight and compact, making them easy to throw into your camping bag, caravan, camper trailer or car without sacrificing valuable packing space.

They're especially handy when you're travelling with kids or heading away for several days.

2. They're made for beach and camping days

Australian camping and beach trips often go hand in hand.

One minute you're swimming, the next you're sitting around the campsite, heading for a walk or jumping back in the water.

Our quick-dry towels are designed for exactly this kind of day.

Take one to the beach, keep one in the caravan or pack one for the campsite shower;  they're useful wherever the adventure takes you.

3. Quick-drying means less damp gear

Nobody loves putting a wet towel into their bag.

Our towels are designed to dry quickly and shake off sand easily, making them particularly useful when you're camping for several nights and don't want damp, bulky towels taking up space.

Hang it up after a swim or shower and let it dry while you get on with your day.

4. One picnic blanket can do a lot

Our recycled picnic blankets are another camping essential that earns its place in the car.

Use yours for a picnic, as a comfortable place to sit outside the tent, for beach days, family lunches or simply somewhere to stretch out and enjoy the sunshine.

And because they're made for outdoor life, you don't have to save them for special occasions.

Camping, beach day, park afternoon or road trip stop, they're ready to go.

5. Recycled materials, made for more adventures

We love the outdoors, so using recycled materials in our products is important to us.

Our picnic blankets are made using recycled plastic bottles, giving them a second life as something useful for your next adventure.

Our recycled RPET towels are also designed with the same idea in mind: practical products that can be used again and again.

It's a small choice, but when you're already someone who loves spending time outdoors, it makes sense to consider what you're taking with you.

Perfect for Australian camping trips

One of our favourite things about camping in Australia is how different every trip can be.

You might be setting up beside the beach at Inskip Point before heading over to K’gari, spending a weekend around Noosa and the Sunshine Coast, or taking the kids on a coastal camping adventure.

You might be exploring the South Coast of NSW, stopping at Jervis Bay, hiking in the Blue Mountains or heading south towards Victoria and the Great Ocean Road.

Further west, places like Margaret River and Esperance offer completely different landscapes, while Kakadu National Park gives campers the chance to experience the Top End at its best. Parks Australia currently manages Kakadu along with several other Commonwealth national parks.

Wherever you're heading, good camping gear should make the trip easier and not give you more things to think about.

Small essentials. Big adventures.

We didn't create Nap and Sun products to sit beautifully in a cupboard.

We want them to be used.

Covered in sand after a beach day.
Thrown over a camping chair.
Packed into the caravan.
Spread across the grass for lunch.
Rolled up in the car after a weekend away.

That's the kind of life we had in mind when we created them.

Because Australian outdoor adventures don't have to be complicated.

Sometimes all you need is a good towel, somewhere comfortable to sit, a little sunshine and somewhere new to explore.
